FLIGHT TRAINING INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the flying field.
I shall be your virtual instructor for the next few lessons. Follow these lessons and with a lot of practice, I'm sure that you will have successful flights.
Let me begin by listing down the items that you would need to bring to the field.
FUEL AND FUEL PUMP
I usually pump my tank before driving out to the field. This will save me the hassle of pumping it later, and also carrying a separate container of fuel.
However, if you're planning to have more than 1/2 hour of airtime, then you need more than 1 tank of fuel.
GLOW PLUG BOOSTER / HEATER
Don't forget to charge the battery of your glow booster before going to the field. These are only 1.5V battery source and will run down very quickly. Especially so when you have difficulty starting the engines.
12V STARTER
Again, don't forget to charge the batteries for these.. And since I'm talking about batteries, don't forget to charge your receiver and transmitter batteries at the same time.
GLOW PLUG WRENCH
You may need to remove the glow plug from the engine if the engine is flooded. Make sure you have this tool with you always.
ALLEN KEYS AND SCREW DRIVERS
Bring a complete set for your first flight. During subsequent flights, you may leave the rest behind except the Allen Key for the Main Rotor Blade Screws and Engine Muffler (this comes loose sometimes.)
It is during your first flight that your heli would require further fine-tuning on its linkages such as the rudder and so on.
In fact, it is extremely adviseable here that you bring along an experience pilot to check out the heli for you and get him to tune to for a steady hover.
My Hirobo Sceadu is able to hover hands off, without the heli running wild. As a beginner, it is best to be able to learn on a heli that has already been optimally tuned. |
